SSO Microsoft Entra ID: A single sign-on authentication for the M1 iApps suite version 6.8.0!

The new M1 iApps version 6.8.0 (M1 Admin, M1 iManager & M1 iClient) now enables secure single sign-on (SSO) authentication for users via Microsoft Entra ID across all these applications. This solution allows users to access their web applications with a single authentication using their Microsoft 365 account.
What are the benefits of SSO with Microsoft Entra ID?
-
Simplified access and password management:
SSO provides centralized credential management, allowing users to easily access their applications without remembering multiple passwords. -
Enhanced user login experience:
By signing in once with your Microsoft 365 account, you gain direct access to all authorized ESI applications without needing to authenticate again. -
Unified identity and access management:
SSO with Microsoft Entra ID enables centralized access control. Only users belonging to the correct group in the Microsoft Active Directory (AD) directory will be able to access these applications. -
Enhanced security with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):
For added security, multi-factor authentication can be enabled at the Microsoft 365 instance level. This method requires additional verification during the login process, which may include a one-time password (OTP) received via SMS, fingerprint authentication, a voice call, or authentication via the Microsoft Authenticator app.
How to activate your SSO?
Your IT department will need to:
- Register iApps in your Microsoft 365 instance: This is done via the Microsoft Azure portal, allowing ESI applications to be integrated into the Microsoft Entra ID centralized authentication system.
- Perform specific configuration in M1 Admin: This setup links ESI applications to the Microsoft 365 instance, ensuring seamless operation with Microsoft Entra ID.
- Configure user groups in Active Directory (AD): Only users belonging to the correct group will be granted access to ESI applications.
- Define individual user permissions in M1 Admin: These permissions allow precise control over authorizations for each profile or user, similar to local authentication management.
